New Delhi, March 10, 2025: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw firmly defended his commitment to the nation during a discussion on the Railways Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha. Responding to remarks by Congress MP Vivek Tankha, who pointed out that a bureaucrat was appointed as Railway Minister, Vaishnaw asserted that his dedication to the country is unwavering.

"Vivek Tankha ji said a bureaucrat was made (Railway Minister). Yes, I agree I am a bureaucrat, but my commitment to the country is no less than any politician," Vaishnaw stated. He further challenged critics, saying, "If there is any lapse in my commitment, then you can point fingers at me, otherwise you have no right to do so."

Vaishnaw, a former IAS officer and technocrat, has been leading key railway modernization projects, including high-speed rail initiatives and infrastructure upgrades. His remarks come amid a broader debate on railway reforms and privatization concerns.
