New Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan has strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks against the Election Commission of India, calling them an “erratic outburst” and accusing him of undermining a key constitutional institution.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kesavan stated, “Mr Rahul Gandhi’s erratic outburst against the Election Commission of India, in which he threatened the institution in a vile and dishonourable manner, reveals a disturbed and dictatorial mindset.” His comments come in response to Gandhi’s criticism of the Election Commission over the handling of the Special Inclusion of Records (SIR) process in Bihar.
The controversy erupted amid allegations of voter list irregularities and alleged exclusion of names under the SIR initiative. Gandhi’s statements, interpreted by critics as confrontational and inflammatory, have drawn sharp reactions from BJP leaders who say such rhetoric erodes public trust in independent democratic institutions.
Kesavan further suggested that Gandhi’s approach may politically harm him. “This is likely to backfire on him in the days to come,” he added.
