Mumbai — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Kadam on Saturday dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s controversial claim of “match-fixing in elections” as baseless and politically motivated, comparing it to a student blaming the syllabus after failing an exam.
“The statement of Rahul Gandhi sounds like that of a student who fails in exam and then says that the questions were out of syllabus,” Kadam said, criticising what he termed as Gandhi’s selective outrage. “When they win, then EVMs and the Election Commission are fine,” he added.
Kadam pointed out that the Congress party did not raise any objections to electronic voting machines (EVMs) or the election process after securing a significant number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections. “Rahul Gandhi didn’t say anything after Congress won so many seats in Lok Sabha. Now, when you lost Maharashtra Assembly elections, then EVM is at fault,” he remarked.
