Patna: Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi stated that he raised two key demands during proceedings in the Lok Sabha, addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly. Gandhi called for a caste census and the removal of the 50% cap on reservations, citing underrepresentation of various communities.

“In Lok Sabha, I said two things in front of Modi Ji: one is that caste census will happen, and we will end 50 percent cap on reservations... The reasons behind these demands were that there are still people from SCs, STs, OBCs, and minorities that don't get their rightful participation,” he said in a social media post.

Gandhi emphasised that these measures are aimed at ensuring equitable participation for marginalized communities in education, employment, and governance. The call for a caste census and reservation adjustments has been a recurring topic in Indian politics, often linked to debates on social justice, representation, and inclusivity.
