New Delhi, August 4: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy announced that party leader Rahul Gandhi will convene the first meeting of the INDIA bloc in 2025, with a primary focus on addressing concerns over electoral transparency, particularly regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. Reddy emphasized that the Opposition is committed to safeguarding the integrity of India’s democratic process.
“Our leader Rahul Gandhi wants to fight on the issue of SIR. We have been continuously trying to hold discussions on this issue in the house,” Reddy said, underlining the party’s concerns over what it perceives as a lack of transparency in the voter revision process undertaken by the Election Commission.
India, being the world’s largest democracy, requires its electoral processes to be beyond reproach, Reddy added. “If the Election Commission of India is not transparent, then it will be difficult to maintain the credibility of our democratic institutions,” he said.
