New Delhi/Assam: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Da, describing him as a towering figure whose contributions touched countless lives.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi said, “Zubeen Da was like Kanchenjunga — honest, unshakable, and beautiful. India and Assam have lost not just an artist, but a towering soul who touched countless hearts.”

The Congress leader also called for accountability and justice for the late singer, urging authorities to conduct a swift and transparent investigation. “Zubeen Da’s family, and the people of Assam, deserve nothing less than truth and justice. I stand with his family in their grief, and offer my full support in every way possible,” he added.
