New Delhi | Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, took a strong swipe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a public rally in West Vinod Nagar, ahead of the Delhi Elections 2025. Gandhi criticized Kejriwal for deviating from his original promises, accusing him of failing the people of Delhi and becoming disconnected from the common man.

“Arvind Kejriwal says anything that comes to his mind,” Rahul Gandhi remarked, pointing out the stark contrast between Kejriwal’s initial image and his current position. He recalled how Kejriwal had entered politics with a promise to bring about a "new kind of politics," boasting of his simple lifestyle and commitment to change Delhi. Gandhi noted, "When he came, he had a small car and said he would do a new kind of politics... He promised to change Delhi, but when the poor needed him, when riots happened, he wasn’t there."

Gandhi further accused Kejriwal of hypocrisy, citing the massive liquor scam in Delhi as an example of the broken promises. "He said he would do clean politics, but in Delhi, the biggest liquor scam happened," Gandhi said, alluding to the ongoing controversy surrounding the excise policy. Gandhi also took a jibe at Kejriwal's lifestyle, saying, "You must have seen the photo of his house... Kejriwal stays in a palace, ‘Sheesh Mahal.’"
