Chandigarh: Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal criticized the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for delays in lifting stored paddy, stating that the primary issue in Punjab is the slow procurement process. He explained that the FCI's failure to purchase the stored paddy earlier has caused the current backlog and logistical challenges. "It is the duty of the FCI and the Central Government to ensure proper storage arrangements," Dhaliwal remarked.

The minister also addressed concerns about Punjab's contribution to Delhi's worsening air quality. He firmly denied any significant role of Punjab in the increase in air pollution in the capital, shifting the focus away from the state's stubble-burning practices, which are often cited as a major source of pollution in Delhi during the winter season.
