Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday outlined key outcomes from his recent official visit to Japan, highlighting discussions with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on potential investment avenues in clean energy and joint ventures involving Japanese companies in India.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Mann said the delegation’s first meeting in Japan was held with JBIC’s Senior Managing Director, Ogawa Kazunori. During the interaction, the Japanese side detailed JBIC’s mandate as a financial institution that supports Japanese companies operating or investing overseas. The bank, Mann said, offers loans aligned with a company’s share in a project and helps facilitate collaborations that drive cross-border industrial growth.

The Chief Minister added that JBIC officials informed them about an existing tie-up with IndusInd Bank in India, aimed at easing financing channels for Japanese enterprises. “They mentioned that they accept proposals in the clean-energy sector and will recommend suitable financing options for Japanese companies after technical discussions,” Mann said.
