Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced structural reforms in the state administration, revealing that a department previously run by Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal was merely on paper, with no staff or office. Speaking on the issue, Mann stated that the government had renamed and revamped the department to introduce meaningful reforms.

“We changed its name and created a new department. Earlier, it was just for the name—there was no staff or office. Now, it has been created to bring reforms, whether in bureaucracy or other areas,” said the CM.

Mann further emphasized the need to consolidate departments with overlapping functions to improve efficiency. “We are also looking at merging several departments with similar functions into one department,” he added, hinting at a broader administrative overhaul.
