CHANDIGARH – Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the vandalism of Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue in Amritsar, accusing the AAP government of failing to uphold the respect and ideology of the architect of the Indian Constitution.

"Bhagwant Mann does not care about the insult of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Amritsar, but only cares about saving the AAP government in Punjab," Jakhar said.

He emphasized that Ambedkar’s statue is not just a structure but a representation of his ideology and the faith of not only Scheduled Castes but the entire nation. Highlighting Ambedkar’s contributions, Jakhar remarked, "The iron dome that protects India is the latest technology that he created at that time only."

Jakhar further criticized Mann and his cabinet for their inaction following the incident, questioning their absence in Punjab while the people demanded justice. "You and all of your ministers are sitting in Delhi and couldn't even instil trust in people after this incident... This is not a small deed, you are misleading the people of Punjab," he said.

Raising concerns about law and order, the BJP leader accused the Punjab government of yielding to extremist forces. "How could the government of Punjab bend before the extremists? Bhagwant Mann has lost the right to put photos of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh," he added.
