Pune: Ahead of the voting scheduled for November 20, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Deshmukh has outlined comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and fair election process. Addressing the media, SP Deshmukh highlighted key steps being taken to maintain law and order in the district.

“We have already seized all weapons, including unlicensed firearms, as a precautionary measure. Strict actions are being implemented against those possessing illegal arms,” he said, emphasizing the importance of such preemptive actions to curb any potential disruptions during the electoral process.

To bolster security, over 3,000 police personnel, supported by 2,600 home guards, will be deployed across the district. Their duties will include manning polling stations, patrolling sensitive areas, and ensuring smooth conduct of the voting process.

SP Deshmukh also assured that extensive arrangements are being made to address any emergent law-and-order situations promptly. “We are committed to ensuring that every voter can exercise their democratic right in a safe and secure environment,” he added.

The authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities.
