Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur, saying that while the move was welcome, it should have taken place much earlier.
Speaking to reporters, Priyanka Gandhi said she was “glad” that the Prime Minister had finally decided to visit the northeastern state, but pointed out that the visit came two years after widespread violence broke out there. “I am glad that the Prime Minister decided to visit Manipur, but he should have thought of it before,” she said.
The Congress leader’s remarks come against the backdrop of Modi’s visit to Churachandpur, where he laid foundation stones for development projects worth nearly ₹7,000 crore and praised the resilience and courage of the people of Manipur.
