During the ongoing Parliament Winter Session, a political flashpoint erupted after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had sought public funds for the construction of the Babri Masjid. The remark triggered swift reactions from the Opposition, with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sharply dismissing the statement as yet another attempt to divert national attention.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Priyanka Gandhi said such comments were designed to steer the public discourse away from pressing issues that directly affect citizens. “These are all distractions. There are many other real issues that need to be discussed,” she said. “They create a new distraction every day so that we are unable to discuss the real issues of the people.”
