New Delhi — Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Thursday launched a fierce attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following a recent statement by its General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, alleging it betrayed a hidden agenda to alter the foundational values of the Indian Constitution.
Tiwari said the RSS’s earlier campaign slogan, “Abki Baar 400 Paar”, in the run-up to the 2024 general elections, was part of a broader conspiracy aimed at acquiring enough strength in Parliament to amend Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution. “That conspiracy was rejected by the people,” Tiwari asserted. “And the pain of that rejection has found expression in Dattatreya Hosabale’s words.”
He warned that the Indian Constitution—rooted in socialist and Gandhian ideals and enshrined in its directive principles of state policy—was under threat. “If Ambedkar’s Constitution is abolished, will Godse’s principles be introduced in its place?” he asked pointedly, invoking the ideological divide between Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and that of his assassin, Nathuram Godse.
Tiwari questioned whether constitutional protections such as the right to equality and reservations for disadvantaged groups would be scrapped in favor of a system catering only to the elite. “Change the Constitution today, end reservations tomorrow, and power will be concentrated in the hands of a few,” he warned.
He also credited the Indian electorate with safeguarding democratic values in the 2024 elections. “I congratulate the people of India for rejecting this hidden agenda,” he said, vowing that the Congress party would continue its fight to protect Ambedkar’s Constitution and the rights of all citizens.
