Hubballi, Karnataka — Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday stirred political debate by predicting an internal split within the ruling Congress in Karnataka, citing recent remarks made by state minister KN Rajanna on the growing number of power centres within the party.

“I think they will split into two groups. Their fights will increase from September-October,” Joshi said while addressing the media in Hubballi. “I am reading this between the lines of KN Rajanna’s statement,” he added, suggesting that factionalism and leadership tussles are brewing beneath the surface within the state’s Congress leadership.

Rajanna had reportedly voiced concerns about multiple centres of power in the Karnataka Congress, raising eyebrows within political circles about unity in the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar.

Joshi also weighed in on a separate ideological matter, responding to a statement by RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale regarding the terms “socialism” and “secularism” in the Constitution. “Babasaheb Ambedkar himself had rejected these two words at that time itself,” Joshi asserted, aligning with the Sangh Parivar’s long-standing critique that these terms were later additions and not part of the original constitutional vision.
