New Delhi, August 4: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, criticized opposition parties for their continued disruption of parliamentary proceedings, accusing them of repeatedly casting doubts on India’s constitutional institutions. Speaking to the media, Joshi said that the opposition’s lack of faith in bodies like the Election Commission, Supreme Court, High Courts, and Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is detrimental to democratic processes.
“They first demanded a discussion on Operation Sindoor, and we agreed to it. But prior to that, they wasted an entire week with disruptions. Now they are doing the same over the issue of SIR (Systematic Integrity Review). SIR is not happening for the first time in the country. The only difference is that this time, technology is being used extensively. What are they afraid of?” Joshi remarked.
He emphasized that there are established mechanisms for redressal, including a three-tier appeal system, and urged the opposition to utilize these legal avenues instead of stalling Parliament. “The Parliamentary Affairs Minister has clarified this multiple times. Yet, they persist in obstructing parliamentary business. It’s wrong to paralyze the functioning of Parliament for political motives,” he added.
