Bidar: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday criticised the Karnataka government’s move to conduct a caste survey, alleging that it was initiated without adequate planning or preparation. Speaking at an event in Bidar, Joshi claimed the decision was politically driven and intended to divert attention from internal issues within the state’s ruling party.
“This is without any proper planning, only to divert from the issues. They (Karnataka government) are trying to go for the survey. But there is no preparation or training program for the staff,” Joshi said. He contrasted the state’s efforts with those of the Centre, stating that the Union government has begun preparations for a nationwide census, including caste details, scheduled for 2027.
According to Joshi, the Centre’s plan involves staff training, technology development, and the creation of software, applications, and portals to ensure accuracy and transparency. He argued that Karnataka’s sudden decision to order a survey lacked such groundwork.
