Panaji: Indian badminton legend and Padma Shri awardee Prakash Padukone on Thursday called on Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to discuss plans for enhancing the badminton ecosystem in the state.
According to a post by the Chief Minister’s Office on X, Padukone was accompanied by officials from the Goa Badminton Association (GBA) during the meeting. The discussion focused on potential collaborative initiatives aimed at nurturing talent, improving infrastructure, and promoting competitive opportunities for players across Goa.
The meeting reflects a growing emphasis by the state government on sports development, with an eye on both grassroots programs and professional-level training. Officials said that leveraging Padukone’s expertise could provide strategic guidance for coaching, talent scouting, and establishing structured tournaments in the state.
