Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Chhattisgarh’s new Vidhan Sabha building on November 1, marking a historic moment for the state as it celebrates 25 years of its formation. The event coincides with Chhattisgarh’s Foundation Day, adding symbolic significance to the long-awaited unveiling of the state’s permanent legislative home.
For over two decades, the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly had been operating from Raipur’s Rajkumar College since the state’s creation in 2000. The shift to its own modern premises signifies not only infrastructural growth but also the evolution of Chhattisgarh’s political and administrative identity.
Located in Nava Raipur and spread across 51 acres, the new assembly complex has been constructed at a cost of ₹324 crore. Designed to be both state-of-the-art and eco-friendly, it reflects the state’s rich cultural ethos while embracing a modern architectural vision.
The structure’s design integrates traditional Chhattisgarhi artistry with advanced sustainable features, embodying the theme of “Dharti Dhurandhar” — representing strength, culture, and progress. Officials describe the new Vidhan Sabha as a symbol of pride and aspiration, showcasing Chhattisgarh’s journey from its formative years toward a forward-looking future.
