Delhi: Speaking at the Christmas Celebrations event hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI), Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's unwavering commitment to its citizens' safety and well-being, sharing a poignant rescue mission story.
Recalling the safe return of Father Alexis Prem Kumar from Afghanistan nearly a decade ago, PM Modi said, "It was a very satisfactory moment for me when we safely brought Father Alexis Prem Kumar from war-torn Afghanistan. He was held hostage for eight months."
He emphasized that such rescue operations transcend the realm of diplomatic missions. "For us, all these missions are not mere diplomatic missions but an emotional commitment to bring back family members. Today's India ensures that every son of India is rescued, no matter where they are stuck in any difficult situation," the Prime Minister added.
PM Modi's remarks were made in the spirit of Christmas, a season symbolizing hope, care, and compassion. The Prime Minister's anecdote resonated with the event's theme of unity and humanitarian service, further underlining the government's dedication to protecting and serving Indians across the globe.
The gathering, organized by CBCI, saw a convergence of leaders and community members celebrating the spirit of Christmas while reflecting on India’s efforts to uphold peace, safety, and inclusivity in its actions both domestically and internationally.
