Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said both leaders exchanged views on a range of bilateral and global issues during their latest interaction.
According to the MEA, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his anticipation of hosting President Putin in India for the 23rd Annual Bilateral Summit, scheduled to take place later this year. The summit is part of a long-standing mechanism through which the two countries review cooperation in key areas including defence, energy, trade, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, established in 2000, has remained a cornerstone of India-Russia relations, ensuring continuity in cooperation despite evolving global dynamics. In recent years, discussions between the two sides have also expanded to cover emerging challenges such as regional security, connectivity, and energy transition.
