Accra, Ghana – In a historic address to the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended a warm invitation to Ghanaian lawmakers to visit India’s new Parliament building. During his remarks, PM Modi spotlighted one of India’s most progressive democratic reforms—reserving one-third of seats in Parliament and state assemblies for women.
“I invite you to visit the new Parliament of India. You will be able to see the bold step that we have taken to reserve one-third of the seats in the Indian Parliament and the state assemblies for women,” Modi said, drawing applause from members of Ghana’s legislature.
