Jharsuguda, Odisha – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in Jharsuguda on Friday, highlighting Odisha’s development under what he referred to as a “double engine” government. He said the state’s progress stems from decisions taken 18 months ago and noted the inauguration of several projects worth crores of rupees on the same day.
Modi emphasized the strategic and economic importance of shipbuilding, stating that it supports trade and security, particularly during times of conflict when the smooth flow of imports and exports becomes critical. He noted that the central government, under the BJP, has approved a Rs 70,000 crore package for the shipbuilding sector, which is expected to attract additional investments worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore.
The Prime Minister outlined that the shipbuilding initiative would not only strengthen India’s maritime infrastructure but also provide employment opportunities and promote industrial growth in Odisha. He highlighted the collaborative role of the state and central governments in facilitating these developments.
