Mumbai: Union Minister Piyush Goyal responded sharply to recent remarks made by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, accusing him of indulging in appeasement politics while reaffirming BJP’s representation of the 140 crore people of India.

“BJP is representing the 140 crore Indians. We feel proud that the 140 crore Indians associate themselves with Hindutva,” Goyal said during a media interaction. He emphasized BJP's inclusive approach to Hindutva, describing it as a unifying force for the nation.

Taking aim at Uddhav Thackeray, Goyal criticized the former Maharashtra Chief Minister for what he termed “politics of appeasement.” He expressed disappointment in Thackeray’s political strategies, suggesting they were divisive and contrary to the developmental agenda championed by BJP and its allies.

Goyal also expressed confidence in the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s prospects in the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections. He stated, “BJP and Mahayuti will emerge victorious in the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, and the triple-engine government will play a big role in making ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).”

The reference to a “triple-engine government” underscores BJP’s strategy of aligning governance at the local, state, and national levels to ensure cohesive development. Goyal reiterated that the party’s focus remains on fostering growth, unity, and a progressive future for all citizens.
