Mumbai | Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced a major expansion of the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme in Maharashtra, stating that ESIC hospitals across the state will now be integrated into the initiative. Speaking during an event in Mumbai, Goyal highlighted the government’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to all citizens.
“This initiative will not only cover Maharashtra but will also extend to the entire country,” Goyal said. He added that the integration is part of a broader campaign launched in honor of the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Goyal revealed that BJP and Mahayuti workers are spearheading a campaign to distribute Ayushman Bharat health cards to all eligible families, including those with orange ration cards, irrespective of income. “Our goal is to ensure that all beneficiaries and their families receive a card within the next hundred days. This will allow everyone to access free treatment under Ayushman Bharat,” he said.
The Minister also urged hospitals across Maharashtra, particularly in North Mumbai, to register with the scheme to guarantee healthcare access for all. Highlighting the development of healthcare infrastructure, he announced that Bhagwati Hospital would be operational by the end of January, offering free treatment to Ayushman Bharat cardholders.
Ayushman Bharat, one of India’s flagship healthcare programs, aims to provide cashless treatment to economically weaker sections. The proposed integration of ESIC hospitals and the mass distribution of health cards are expected to significantly boost healthcare accessibility in Maharashtra and beyond.
