Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of diverting public attention from real issues in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Khera said the Congress is contesting on genuine concerns affecting people’s lives, while the BJP continues to rely on slogans and empty promises.
“The fight in Bihar is between real issues and ‘jumla’ politics,” Khera said. “You have heard the speeches of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah — they don’t speak about unemployment, inflation, or farmers’ distress. They only create distractions.”
Khera also raised concerns about the conduct of the Election Commission, likening it to a referee who remains silent despite visible irregularities. “The role of the referee is crucial in any fair contest,” he remarked. “But in Bihar, the referee is silent. Several suspicious activities are taking place, and yet, neither the Election Commission nor the government responds. They neither tolerate questions nor provide answers.”
