Delhi: Minister Parvesh Verma on Saturday said that residents from the Purvanchal community will celebrate Chhath Puja this year with renewed enthusiasm, as the traditional ghat has been reopened for public festivities after several years.
Speaking about the preparations, Verma said, “It was our resolution that people of Purvanchal celebrate Diwali here with great enthusiasm. Earlier government led by Kejriwal never allowed them to come to this ghat — a ghat built during my father’s tenure.”
He added that this year’s celebration will mark a return to the traditions of earlier decades. “This year, Chhath will be celebrated just as it used to be 30–35 years back, when our party was in power,” Verma said, emphasizing the government’s efforts to restore cultural and religious practices for the Purvanchal community in Delhi.
