Parliamentary Panel Meets in Leh; Digvijaya Singh Reiterates Statehood Demand for Ladakh

Leh, Ladakh: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports convened a meeting in Leh under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh. The committee discussed various issues related to the region’s development, with emphasis on education and youth-related initiatives.

Speaking after the meeting, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh addressed a political aspect concerning the status of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. He stated that both Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reminding him of the promise made regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir.

Singh remarked, “I am present here as the chairman of this committee. Our meetings were held here… On behalf of the Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have personally written a letter to Prime Minister Modi requesting that you had promised to grant statehood to Jammu-Kashmir.”
