NEW DELHI — Congress leader Pargat Singh on Thursday criticized both the AAP and BJP governments for their handling of Delhi’s persistent air pollution problem, calling their efforts ineffective and inadequate.
Speaking to the media, Singh remarked, “The Kejriwal government has been in power in Delhi for 10 years. They did not do any work then. They (AAP and BJP) are ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams.” He highlighted findings from a study by the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) which concluded that air pollution from Punjab does not reach Delhi.
Singh also challenged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to come to Delhi and address the issue publicly. “Bhagwant Mann should come to Delhi and hold a press conference on the issue of pollution,” he said.
Criticizing the current measures, he added, “Neither is the BJP government in Delhi doing anything for pollution, nor is AAP, which spoke about a special chemical solution to prevent stubble burning.”
