New Delhi, August 4: Independent MP Pappu Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission (EC) over its notice to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav concerning the issue of dual Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). Yadav questioned the credibility of the EC, accusing it of acting under political influence and compromising its neutrality.
“Is the Election Commission ‘Aladdin ka Chirag’? What will they achieve by sending a notice? The Election Commission has become a 'sandigdh commission' (suspicious commission) in itself,” Yadav said, alleging that the EC has been functioning as a de facto spokesperson of the BJP. “They have said that they are BJP spokespersons under all circumstances,” he added.
Pappu Yadav further accused the BJP and the Election Commission of orchestrating backdoor attacks on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to marginalize voters in Bihar. “The manner in which there has been an attack on SIR through back doors by the BJP and EC, Bihar's and Biharis' rights have been attacked,” he said.
Endorsing the Congress party as the primary opposition force capable of resisting these alleged attacks on democratic institutions, Yadav announced that a series of political mobilization efforts will be undertaken in Bihar. “Congress is the only option. From 10th August, Rahul Gandhi and the alliance will be together, and there will be visits till Katihar,” he declared, signaling a coordinated campaign to raise public awareness on the issue.
