Owaisi

Siliguri: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar—particularly the Seemanchal region—after his party secured five seats in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters, Owaisi said, “I thank the people of Bihar and especially of Seemanchal,” crediting the region’s voters for AIMIM’s performance.

Owaisi’s party made notable gains in constituencies with significant minority populations, marking one of its strongest electoral showings in the state so far. The results have sparked fresh political debate over emerging regional dynamics and vote share realignments.

When asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s opposition to the SIR (Status Identification and Reverification) procedure, Owaisi maintained a neutral stand and chose not to elaborate. “I cannot say anything in this. You all should ask her,” he said, steering clear of direct political confrontation.
