Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed the National Education Policy (NEP) conclave at Amar Singh College, highlighting the importance of integrating practical skills with traditional learning.
“A new change has been introduced, combining book-based education with practical knowledge and skill upgradation. This type of education will be immensely useful when students enter the job market,” Abdullah said, emphasizing the policy’s role in preparing students for employment and real-world challenges.
He also stressed the need for innovative and practical solutions to societal issues. “For instance, a student proposed addressing underage driving. She suggested a biometric system using fingerprint recognition: if your age is verified and you have a valid driver’s license, the vehicle starts; if not, it won’t. This is the kind of innovative, practical solution we need to encourage through education,” he added.
