Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said he has spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to brief him on the damage caused by heavy and continuous rains in the region, particularly in Jammu province. The downpour has disrupted normal life, damaged infrastructure, and affected connectivity across several areas.
In a social media post, Abdullah said efforts are underway to restore phone and data services at the earliest. “Just spoke to the Union Home Minister @AmitShah ji on the phone to brief him about the situation in J&K, especially Jammu province, where heavy & continuous rains have caused a lot of damage and disruption to normal life. Efforts are being made to restore phone/data connectivity as soon as possible,” he wrote.
The Chief Minister added that the closure of Jammu airport had prevented him and his colleagues from traveling to the division on Tuesday. “I hope to be able to get there on the first flight tomorrow. In the meantime, I’m closely monitoring the situation & in touch with the teams on the ground,” he said.
