Muscat, May 1 — Dr. Habib bin Mohammed al-Riyami, Secretary General of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science, has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, calling it a tragic outcome of the gross misinterpretation of religion. His remarks come amid global outrage over the incident, which claimed several innocent lives.

Speaking from Muscat, Dr. al-Riyami emphasized that no genuine religion sanctions violence or the destruction of humanity and culture. “One of the biggest misunderstandings is how people understand Islam or religion,” he said. “No true religion calls for killing others or destroying humanities or cultures.”

He further condemned those who exploit the name of Islam or any faith to justify terrorism. “Many people wear the address of Islam or any religion and end up killing others in its name. This is nonsense,” Dr. al-Riyami stated firmly.

Highlighting Oman’s model of peaceful coexistence, he added, “People must live together, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims. Here in Oman, we strongly believe in diversity and different ways of being.”
