Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, while addressing the inaugural session of Audit Diwas, highlighted the global respect and interest in India's robust auditing framework.
“From time to time, people from countries across the world come to the Indian Parliament to study our auditing system, learn from it, and adopt the Indian auditing practices,” he remarked.
Birla further noted that officials and employees from at least 50 countries frequently visit India to receive training and gain insights into the functioning of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and the broader audit system in the country. This reflects the Indian audit system’s credibility and its importance as a model for other nations.
The Lok Sabha Speaker also praised the CAG’s role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and good governance, stating that its practices align with India's democratic ethos and contribute significantly to financial discipline.
Audit Diwas, observed annually, recognizes the pivotal contributions of audit institutions in upholding public trust and enhancing governance standards. Om Birla’s address underscored India’s leadership in this critical area and its role in shaping global auditing benchmarks.
