Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister Prithviraj Harichandan strongly defended the state government's track record on law and order during a recent address in Bhubaneswar. Speaking about the progress made under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's leadership, Harichandan highlighted the significant improvements in the state's safety and security, particularly concerning crimes against women.

"Naveen Patnaik knows what the situation of law and order was earlier and what it is today," Harichandan stated, emphasizing the strides made in enhancing public safety. He acknowledged that Odisha once ranked high in terms of crimes against women but asserted that the current administration is actively working to improve the situation.

"Odisha was number one when it came to crimes related to women, and now the state government is working to improve the situation," Harichandan said. He went on to dismiss any contrary claims about the law and order scenario in Odisha as false and baseless. "Whatever claims he is making are all lies," the minister remarked, asserting that the state's law and order situation is now under control.

Harichandan's comments come amidst ongoing debates about the effectiveness of the state government's policies on crime prevention and public safety. The minister's statements are part of the broader efforts by the Odisha government to counter criticisms and highlight the positive changes brought about under Chief Minister Patnaik's leadership.
