Odisha Health Minister: No HMPV Cases in State, Prepared to Act

Bhubaneswar, Odisha – Amid growing concerns over the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has assured citizens that the state is fully prepared to tackle the virus, despite no cases being reported so far.

“There is no need to panic about the HMPV virus. No case has been reported in Odisha yet,” Mahaling said, addressing the public in Bhubaneswar. He added that the state government has issued comprehensive guidelines and is closely following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) laid out by the Central Government.

The minister emphasized that both the Central and State Governments are equipped to handle any potential outbreak. “We will follow the SOP of the Central Government. The Central and State Governments are fully prepared,” he said, highlighting the coordinated efforts to monitor and prevent the spread of the virus.

HMPV is a respiratory virus that has sparked concern due to its potential transmissibility and health impact. Health authorities in Odisha are maintaining heightened surveillance to detect and respond to any emerging cases.
