Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister Gokulananda Mallick reiterated the state government’s commitment to cow protection, announcing significant measures under the Mukhyamantri Prani Kalyan Yojana.

Addressing the media, the minister said, "Today, we have allocated ₹8 crore 96 lakh as support price to 66 cow shelters across Odisha to ensure the safety and welfare of cows."

In a major expansion of infrastructure, the state plans to establish 200 new cow shelters, aiming to bolster efforts toward animal welfare. The minister assured that the government is actively working to curb illegal activities related to cow slaughter and transportation.

"We have formed a committee led by the Deputy Chief Minister to stop cow slaughter and illegal transportation. A roadmap is being prepared to address these issues comprehensively, and strict action will be taken against violators," Mallick said.

The initiative reflects the state government’s broader commitment to animal welfare, aligning with public sentiment and the need to protect livestock. By scaling up cow shelters and enforcing regulations, Odisha aims to create a robust framework for cow protection and welfare.

Further details on the implementation of these measures and the roadmap against illegal activities are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
