Patna, Bihar — Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Chirag Paswan on Thursday dismissed opposition allegations about the weakening of reservation policies, asserting that there is no threat to constitutional safeguards for SCs, STs, and OBCs under the current NDA government.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Paswan accused opposition parties of trying to “mislead” marginalized communities during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by falsely claiming that reservations would soon be abolished. “The opposition tried a lot to mislead the SCs, STs, and backward classes. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they claimed that reservation would end soon,” he said.
He pointed to the electoral outcome in states like Uttar Pradesh as evidence that such narratives failed to gain traction. “We saw the results of such false claims in states such as Uttar Pradesh,” Paswan added, suggesting that voters rejected these assertions.
Looking ahead to the upcoming assembly elections, the LJP leader warned that the opposition would continue to spread similar misinformation but reassured voters of his commitment. “As long as Chirag Paswan and his party are a part of the central government, there is no danger to reservation and the Constitution,” he declared.
