Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday welcomed the launch of the Bihar State Livelihood Foundation Loan Cooperative Federation Limited, describing it as a significant step toward women’s empowerment and economic self-reliance. The initiative was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing.
Participating virtually in the programme, Kumar said the formation of the federation, along with the transfer of ₹105 crore to the Livelihood Fund, would accelerate income-generating activities for rural women. “This initiative will boost the economic activities of more than 1.4 crore Livelihood Didis connected to more than 11 lakh groups working in the state. Along with this, women’s economic self-reliance will further strengthen their active participation in the overall development of families, society, and the state,” he posted on social media.
Officials said the federation aims to provide easier access to loans, support entrepreneurial ventures, and promote sustainable livelihoods for women’s self-help groups across Bihar. It is also expected to expand financial inclusion and reduce dependence on informal credit sources in rural areas.
