Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke on the recent series of bridge collapses in Bihar, highlighting the need for clear accountability in infrastructure projects. He said, “In Bihar, 4-5 bridges collapsed consecutively. I said, when mistakes are bona fide, forgive them; but if the mistakes are mala fide, then sack them.”

The minister’s statement underscores the distinction between genuine errors and deliberate negligence in public works. Gadkari emphasized that while inadvertent mistakes in construction and maintenance can be addressed through corrective measures, intentional lapses or corruption must face strict disciplinary action.
