Deoghar, Jharkhand — BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has hit back at an FIR lodged against him, fellow MP Manoj Tiwari, and others for allegedly “forcibly” entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Baba Baidyanath Temple on August 2, an act said to have hurt religious sentiments.

Speaking to reporters, Dubey questioned the legitimacy of the case. “Who is filing the FIR? The magistrate has to do that. FIR could be filed against those who forcefully entered the place… Just like the tourism minister of the state, I am also an MP and a trustee of the temple… On what basis is the FIR filed?”

He maintained that his presence at the temple was lawful, adding, “I am standing in front of the temple, and I have taken an oath to remove this state government and I will do it.”
