Deoghar: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Thursday strongly defended the SIR initiative, responding to protests and opposition emerging from various parts of the country. Speaking in Deoghar, Dubey accused political rivals of exploiting demographic politics and relying on non-citizen voters to bolster their electoral prospects.

“They have been trying to form their government with Bangladeshi voters. They do not trust India’s voters,” Dubey claimed, reiterating the BJP’s long-standing charge that certain opposition parties allegedly depend on cross-border vote banks. His remarks come as the SIR proposal faces political criticism and public demonstrations in several regions.

Dubey argued that the origins of SIR lie in earlier policies, calling it a “gift of Rajiv Gandhi,” and said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had failed to uphold or understand his father’s vision. “Rahul Gandhi is not even able to fulfil his father’s dreams. He should read Rajiv Gandhi. SIR should be read,” he said.
