New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that the writings of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, continue to serve as an essential guide to the country’s democratic and philosophical evolution. He described Nehru’s works as living documents that illuminate India’s inner journey through its formative decades.

“Nehru's writings are not just history, they are a record of India's evolving conscience,” Gandhi said, emphasising that Nehru’s reflections on nation-building, pluralism and democratic values still resonate deeply in contemporary India. He added that anyone seeking to understand the country’s political and social transformation must engage with the former prime minister’s words, which he called “a powerful compass.”
