Bhubaneswar witnessed a charged political atmosphere today as Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik led a protest against the central government, criticizing its handling of rising prices and farmers' issues. Addressing a crowd of supporters, Patnaik accused the BJP-led government of being disconnected from the struggles of ordinary citizens.
“This government claims to be a people's government, but it seems to have no connection with the happiness and sorrow of the people," said Patnaik. Highlighting the steep rise in prices, he added, "Whether it is pulses, oil, or electricity, the prices of all essential commodities, from groceries to medicines, are skyrocketing. Farmers are committing suicide every day due to crop damage caused by unseasonal rains, adding to their already heavy burden."
Patnaik further criticized the BJP government for coming to power on what he called "a foundation of lies and false promises." He asserted that the growing discontent among the people, especially the four and a half crore Odias, would eventually expose the government's "true face."
The protest in Bhubaneswar drew attention to pressing issues such as inflation, the impact of unseasonal rains on agriculture, and the struggles faced by farmers. The BJD leader demanded urgent action to address these challenges, calling for policies that prioritize the welfare of the common man.
