Bhuj, Gujarat — The National Senior Women’s Handball Championship 2025 was officially inaugurated at the Sardar Patel Vidya Sankul of the Bhuj Kachhi Leva Patel community, marking yet another milestone in India’s growing commitment to women's sports.
The prestigious tournament, scheduled to continue until July 3, features top-tier female athletes from across the country, including select players from India’s paramilitary forces, adding a unique dimension of discipline and grit to the competition.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who inaugurated the event, praised the flourishing sports culture in the state and across India, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for elevating sports alongside education as a national priority. “The thriving high-level sports culture in Gujarat is a result of the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” Patel said in a post on social media.
He emphasized that the championship reflects India’s continued support for women’s participation in sports, building on the momentum of the Adishakti National Women’s Archery Competition recently held at Ambaji Dham. “This tournament, organized on the sacred land of Maa Ashapura in Kachchh, provides a platform for women from various states to showcase their sporting prowess,” the CM added.
