Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over the ongoing National Herald case, calling it a “clear example” of how the party allegedly misused its political power to amass property through corrupt means.

Speaking to the media in the national capital, Poonawalla alleged that the Congress has a pattern of being involved in land-related scams. “The National Herald scam is proof of how the Congress party is connected to the land. Wherever the Congress party sees land, whether it’s the Jija ji land deal, the MUDA scam, or the National Herald scam, they grab that land through corruption,” he stated.

He accused Congress of exploiting national heritage properties for personal gain. “In the case of National Herald, property worth two thousand crores, which originally belonged to freedom fighters and the people of the country, was grabbed by creating a special purpose vehicle named Young Indians. By merely paying Rs 50 lakh, they took over assets worth two thousand crores,” he claimed.

Poonawalla further said that as the law catches up with the alleged wrongdoers, Congress leaders are “playing the victim card” instead of returning the property to the nation.
