Kalaburagi, Karnataka — Reacting to the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge defended the Gandhis, calling the charges unfounded.

Kharge emphasized that borrowing money from one organization to run another was not a crime. "We borrowed money from one organization to run another, what is wrong with it? The paper started by Pt Nehru was stopped when we went out of power. We just tried to revive it,” Kharge said during a public address in Kalaburagi.

He further criticized the ruling BJP, raising questions about its sources of funding. "Now they (BJP) are expanding their organizations, where did all this money come from in the last 8-9 years?" Kharge remarked, pointing to the alleged financial irregularities within the BJP.
