Ahmedabad, Gujarat: Congress MP Mukul Wasnik on Monday criticized the Gujarat government for its inadequate response to the losses suffered by farmers after last month’s heavy rainfall. Addressing the media during his visit to Ahmedabad, Wasnik said the Congress would hold meetings with district and taluka presidents at the State Congress Committee office to review the current political situation in Gujarat and prepare for the upcoming local body elections.
“The state witnessed extensive agricultural damage due to excessive rainfall, which destroyed standing crops across several districts,” he said. “Farmers are suffering, and while the government has announced some relief measures, they remain insufficient. The majority of farmers have yet to receive any meaningful support.”
Wasnik added that the party would also deliberate on the State Industrial Region (SIR) decision made by the Election Commission and other local governance matters.
On the recent blast in Delhi, the Congress leader expressed deep concern and called for a thorough investigation. “Yesterday’s incident in Delhi is deeply troubling. We strongly condemn it and express our condolences to the families of the victims. The Government of India must ensure a comprehensive probe and take strict action against those responsible,” he said.
